On 6 July in the town of Bolgar near the monument to the fallen Afghan soldiers, a mourning meeting was held to commemorate the tragic death of natives of the Spassky district during a special military operation. Among the dead was Yevgeny Nikolaev, an employee of the Bolgar Islamic Academy.

Sergey Ivanov, chairman of the state tourism committee of the Republic of Tatarstan, Fargat Mukhametov, head of the Spassky district of the Republic, Farkhat Khusnutdinov, rector of the Bolgar Islamic Academy, and others came to share the grief with the relatives of the casualties and residents of the city.

Chairman of the State committee on tourism of the Republic of Tatarstan Sergey Ivanov noted that thanks to our defenders today we have clear sky and no sounds of exploding shells.

“Honour, memory and respect should be unquestionable and eternal. On behalf of the government of the Republic of Tatarstan, let me express words of deepest condolence to the relatives and residents in the district,” said the head of the state committee on tourism.

Fargat Mukhametov, head of the Spassky district, expressed words of sympathy and noted that the fighters were faithful to their military duty as soldiers and as citizens of the country until the last minute:

“With a sense of deep sorrow and irreparable loss, we see off 4 guys on their last journey. We grieve with you, share the bitterness of loss. Your feat is immortal.”

Yevgeny Nikolaev was posthumously awarded the order of courage.

Rector Farkhat Khusnutdinov expressed condolences to the family and relatives of Yevgeny Nikolaev, and on behalf of the Academy staff laid a wreath on his grave.
