On December 8, a working meeting was held between the leadership of the Bolgar Islamic Academy and a delegation from Damascus University. The Syrian delegation included Rector of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama al-Jabban, Vice Rector for Research, Dr. Firas al-Hinnawi, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Dr. Okba al-Fakush and Chairman of the External Relations Committee of the Union of Arab Graduates of Soviet and Russian Universities Yaser Allahham.

Within the framework of the meeting the acting Rector of the Academy Aynur Timerkhanov acquainted his colleagues with the scientific and educational activities of the university, the specificity of educational programs and the positive results of the Academy.

Separately, Aynur Timerkhanov noted successful cooperation between the Bolgar Islamic Academy and Damascus University. Thus, one of the leading foreign lecturers of the Academy is a graduate and former lecturer of Damascus University, Doctor of Shariah Sciences Mohamed Ayman al-Zahravi, who also heads the Council for awarding the degree of Doctor of Islamic Sciences, acting at the Academy. As part of the visiting professor program, the Academy has successfully collaborated with Dr. Badig al-Lahham, associate professor of Sharia Sciences at the University of Damascus.

In turn, the rector of Damascus University, Dr. Muhammad Osama al-Jabban, thanked for his detailed acquaintance with the Academy, stressing that he appreciates the work of the university.

“I feel like I am among family, among brothers. We are honored to cooperate with you and work together in the field of education. We signed an agreement on mutual cooperation in 2020, and I believe that we need to continue working in this direction, to strengthen our cooperation,” said the rector of Damascus University.

As a result of the meeting it was decided to prepare a road map for cooperation between the two universities in 2023.
