As part of his working visit to the Republic of Tatarstan for the 16th International Economic Forum “Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum,” H.E. Ghanem bin Shaheen bin Ghanem Al Ghanim, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs of the State of Qatar, visited the Bolgar Islamic Academy. KazanForum serves as the largest international platform for cooperation between Russia and member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
The Qatari Minister was accompanied by Ayrat Khayrullin, Minister of Digital Development, Public Administration, Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Tatarstan. At the Academy, the delegation was welcomed by Ayrat Khusnutdinov, Head of the Executive Office.
During the visit, H.E. Al Ghanim toured the Academy’s exhibition complex and explored the library’s extensive collection of Islamic literature, which includes ancient Qur’anic manuscripts and rare works on Islamic jurisprudence.
At the Academy’s Laboratory for the Restoration and Digitization of Ancient Books and Manuscripts, the Minister was shown unique restored publications—demonstrating the meticulous craftsmanship and scholarly dedication of the Academy’s specialists.
In his welcome remarks, Ayrat Khusnutdinov expressed gratitude for the visit and presented an overview of the Academy’s educational and research mission, emphasizing its role in preserving and promoting the theological heritage of Russian Muslims.
Marat Timurshin, Head of the Scientific Department, introduced the faculty and shared details about the research and academic contributions of the Academy’s scholars and students.
H.E. Al Ghanim commended the Academy’s efforts in safeguarding and popularizing Russia’s rich Islamic intellectual tradition.
KazanForum 2025 is currently being held in Kazan, providing a key venue for high-level dialogue on Islamic finance, the halal industry, technology, investment, and global cooperation. As part of the forum, a session of the Strategic Vision Group “Russia – Islamic World” is taking place, chaired by Rais (Head) of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov.
