February 20 at the Bolgar Islamic Academy held a sports and patriotic event dedicated to the Defender of the Fatherland Day.

The event was aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle among students, strengthening health and physical development of students, the formation of youth patriotism and love for the Fatherland.

The competition started with reading verses of the Holy Quran. Welcoming speeches to the participants were delivered by Ildar Salakhov, head of Staff in the Academy, and Alexander Tatievsky teacher of DOSAAF in Bolgar. 

Two teams consisting of 1st and 2nd year students took part in the competitions. The teams had to pass 5 relays: archery, rifle shooting, caterpillar, lifting weights and tug of war. Participants demonstrated good physical preparedness and ability to work in a team, having successfully coped with tasks. According to the results of the competitions team of the 1st course “Shabab” took the 1st place and team of the 2nd course “Egetler” took the 2nd place. Prize-winners and winners were awarded certificates from the Academy.

The event ended with a collective Dua for those who died performing their duty to the Fatherland.
