November 4, 2015: President of the Republic of Tatarstan signs a decree on the establishment of Bolgar Islamic Academy and the reconstruction of the Cathedral of the Kazan Icon of the Mother of God
May 21, 2016: on the anniversary of the official adoption of Islam by Volga Bulgaria, a solemn ceremony is held to place a memorial capsule in the foundation of the educational and residential complex of the Academy
May 20, 2017: the construction of the educational and residential complex and 6 residential campus buildings for lecturers and students is completed. The residential complex has a total area of more than 12000 m2
July 2017: the Academy acquires ownership of the White Mosque Complex, which along with the mosque consists of a madrasa and a residence with a total area of 2920 m2
May 26, 2017: the Academy founders approve the standard of higher religious education (master's program) in the field of study “Training devotees and religious personnel for religious organizations” (profile: “Islamic sciences”, degree: “Master in Islamic sciences”)
August 9, 2017: the Federal Service for the Supervision of Education and Science grants the Academy a license for educational activities (series 90Л01 №0009705 dated August 9, 2017)
September 4, 2017: the Academy is inaugurated in a solemn opening ceremony
Since 2020 the Academy is training specialists according to the federal state educational standard of higher education in the field of study “Theology”
During the 2021/2022 academic year, 25 lecturers, 5 of whom are foreign, are involved in the implementation of educational programs
January 15, 2021: as a result of the Board of Founders meeting, personnel changes take place in the Academy: vice-rector for research Ainur Timerkhanov is appointed Acting Rector
Ainur Timerkhanov, the Academy's acting rector, is currently focused on the improvement of the Academy's scientific and educational components. Work is done on the selection of employees for the departments of theology, religious and humanitarian disciplines, particularly in collaboration with the Council for Islamic Education of Russia. It is also planned to strengthen the work of the Islamic Heritage Center and the Interreligious Dialogue Center by recruiting new employees and making structural changes. Interaction is established with the country's leading Islamic higher educational institutions in order to identify and recruit the most prepared students.
