Within the working visit of Co-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ibn Khaldun University (Istanbul, Turkey) and President of the World Confederation of Ethnosports Bilal Erdogan to Kazan a meeting with Acting Rector of the Academy Aynur Timerkhanov was held.

The delegation also included Irfan Gunduz, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Ibn Khaldun University and Atilla Arkan, Dean of the Turkish University. The meeting took place at the premises of the Consulate General of the Republic of Turkey in Kazan. It was attended by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tatarstan, Chairman of the National Council “Milli Shura” of the World Congress of Tatars Vasil Shaikhraziev and Consul General Ismet Erikan.

Ainur Timerkhanov talked about the scientific and educational activities of the Academy, introduced the guests to the history of the establishment of the educational institution and outlined the main milestones in the formation of Islam in Russia. According to the acting Rector, today the main objective of the Academy is training specialists possessing fundamental knowledge of Islam and having a good understanding of the secular agenda, as a result of which they are able to promote the interests of the country in the international arena.

In turn, representatives of Turkey told about Ibn Khaldun University, which was established in 2015 and has a faculty of Islamic studies and teaches a number of disciplines of the cycle of religious studies. On behalf of the chairman of the Board of Trustees, Irfan Gunduz made a proposal to create a common digital database of manuscripts of common theological heritage. In turn, Aynur Timerkhanov introduced his colleagues to the activities of the Laboratory for the restoration and digitization of ancient manuscripts of the Academy, which is a full cycle of work with works up to their introduction into science.

At the end of the meeting the sides exchanged commemorative gifts, and the Turkish delegation invited Bolgar Islamic Academy to visit Ibn Khaldun University and get acquainted with its activities on site, to identify further plans for cooperation.

Synopsis: Ibn Khaldun University is located in Istanbul’s Başakşehir district and is a research university. It aims to develop the social sciences and humanities (law, history of civilizations, foreign languages, and political theory). The university was established by the famous Turkish scholar Recep Şenturk, who combines rare talents. On the one hand, an in-depth knowledge of Western social sciences and, on the other, knowledge of classical Islamic disciplines, which Professor Şentürk teaches. The creation of the University was supported by Turkish President Recep. Erdogan, who attended the opening and spoke at a conference organized by the university.
